To that end, our packaging is all fully recyclable, with no hard plastics or styrofoam inserts. How does Bluelab make calibration super easy? Calibrating is an easy & fast process! Each pen includes calibration solutions & clear instructions. A check mark appears when the pen is calibrated. When the pen loses calibration, the check mark disappears, informing you it's time to recalibrate. I sometimes see a white crust built up on the end of the pen. What is this? This is very common in pH meters & is nothing to worry about. The storage solution used to hydrate your pen (and extend its longevity) is potassium salt, which sometimes dries as a white crust on your probe. Simply rinse this away under water.
